9:00 a.m. EST – Rising Stars Panel

We’re kicking off the morning with a “Rising Stars” panel, featuring Rep Steve Montenagrego, Rep Scott Turner, and Rep Matt Krause.

Really a pretty boring panel. The most interesting comment came from Representative Krause, who took a big swing at moderate Republicans. “If you can’t protect the unborn, you can’t be trusted to hold the public’s wallet.”

9:30 a.m. EST – Mat Staver

Head of the Liberty Council, Staver is speaking about “red lines.” Comparing America and president Obama to people like Pharaoh or Herod and King Nebuchadnezzar. Says America is on the path for a “great upheaval.”

Staver is now turning his anger towards the Supreme Court. “How DARE they call us bigoted [by ruling against Prop 8 and DOMA]!” He compares those rulings and Obama to Dred Scott, Hitler and the Nazis.

9:50 a.m. – Star Parker

Star is laying it on thick today. “All liberals are liars.” She’s elaborating on the wars liberals are supposedly waging on the rest of the country. Most especially, war on religion (stripping religion out of public schools) and war on the culture with gays – “Keep it to your damn self.”

Parker is also swinging at Blacks and Women who vote for Democrats, she says Blacks have been fooled into thinking social justice “means depending on welfare,” and “single women only vote for Democrats because they’re dependent on government because they’re sexually active and alone.”

10:05 a.m. – Lila Rose

Lila Rose is an anti-choice activist. You can see our full profile on her here:

Lila speech is truly uncomfortable. She’s comparing all abortion providers to Kermit Gosnell, saying that all providers are willing (if not thrilled) to “kill babies” either in the womb or living on a table.

Lila also had a badly edited video, chopped together to infer that it’s common for providers to kill living babies outside of the womb.

10:25 a.m. – Fox News star, Todd Starnes

Starnes starts off reaffirming Fox News’ commitment to the Tea Party. “You have a friend with us.”

“Anti Christian Bigots.” That’s how Starnes is describing liberals and the military. Why the military? Because they recognize the Southern Poverty Law Center’s list of officially designated hate-groups.

Starnes is now the latest in a long line of speakers who are giving credit to Senators Ted Cruz and Mike Lee for the shutdown (which is totally AWESOME!), but blame Obama for enforcing the shutdown.

It takes a real feat of mind-twisting to applaud for someone who encourages the Tea Party congressman to “stand strong” and “keep it shutdown,” while simultaneously screaming about Obama “delightfully shutting down all the government programs.”

11:30 a.m. Our apologies folks, but Values Voters Summit ran out of plugs in the main room, and we were unable to continue our live-blog. Thank you for following along, and don’t forget to catch the full recap of Day 1 here.
